This is not something I’ve seen approached much in the books I’ve read, and I enjoyed seeing it here, because it happens more often than you’d like billingslej think it would. Stop dragging me down. Wonderful approach to the subject of emotional abuse.

Maybe it’s because she’s allegedly responsible for the death of her stepmother. I thought it was rather brilliant the way Billingsley connected everything in the end, and everything started to make sense. I was struck by how Briony was so annoyingly self-loathing.
Well, I was so right: This book was absolutely gorgeous. In the process Briony is charged with the crime of being responsible for her stepmother’s death via witchcraft, but it soon becomes apparent billnigsley stepmother was an evil Dark Muse, draining the life force out of Briony and Rose by way of their creativity.

A few mild romantic situations and references to feeling lustful, and one holiday night is described as being the cause of many abrupt weddings. Just too weird for me. The narrator’s voice was so hard to relate to, I had to abandon the story after about 70 pages. Billingsleu is a flawed, complex character.

It must be good writing, obviously—sometimes an unexpectedly funny turn of phrase, vivid imagery, an effortless smoothness that every writer knows only comes after countless revisions. It includes fantasy and romantic elements that captivated me from start to finish. It might mean running into the wild, into the real, into the ooze and muck and the clean, muddy smell of life.
