Sometimes the defence of a piece helps you to get a clear idea of its positive aspects and we accomplished this. This winter I studied the Jota with the intention of playing it at the beach this summer but frankly just got bored with it – so much hard work and daily maintenance for Slow introduction – nice, theme and first 4 or 5 variations -nice, then we come to all tarreha left hand only stuff.

Gran Jota – Tarrega – really music – Classical Guitar
The first version of Txrrega that really grabbed my was the one played by Berta Rojas. I went back and listened to some of her Barrios pieces. Then there is the fife and drum tambora stuff. That said, I’d still prefer to learn and listen to the Capricio, but that’s just my bent preference obsessing on heaviness. A thought came to mind jpta the guitar was scaled down for her age and size.
Do women just play this better than men? I’m currently studying it, that’s how I found this thread. I guess it’s just my personal preference for deeper music and the daunting task of maintaining it every day that led to my abandonment. I wasn’t familiar with her.
