Love Jhumpa Lahiri and really enjoyed all of Unaccustomed Earth. If you want to read only one story from Unaccustomed Earth, pick this one.


The acclaimed collection explores the secrets at the heart of family life. The balancing of indian side and american side by the current lot is also shaky. After reading that short story, i have come to realize that Hell and heaven as described in the context of that story have blurred out in the present time.


This simple story of a Bengali family in Boston had me wrapped. I usually have trouble with short stories when I read them out of a collection.
