The pirate crew are a mixture of elegant and rough unsavory characters that feel particularly true-to-life from what I’ve read on the subject. It was a very slow moving book at first but at times I really got into it.
She was so selfish and pigheaded! At around twelve I decided I wanted to be a writer this came after deciding I wanted to be a scientist, and then an architect.
In fact, I didn’t realize until after I had listened to it that it won a Audie Award. It’s not balancing any scales since the audience that read those older books has grown up and moved on. In recent YA fiction that dynamic has been reversed, with main female characters and very secondary male characters. These villains are neither caricatures nor buffoons, and they evoke a sense of danger that’s almost palpable.

Matt, being poor and having lost his father, wants to advance in a society that is increasingly emphasizing academy education over experience. The Relationship It wouldn’t be a YA series without a romance, and this series has one — the best I’ve seen, in fact.

Kate de Vries spelling? In this series Book 2. I really was looking forward to liking this book as it’s not the keneth magic fantasy and really isn’t even fantasy per say.
